As the oldest civil society organization in its field, the Gastronomic Society of Türkiye has launched a certificate program entirely prepared by the association to support gastronomy education initiatives.
The first of these online programs, titled “Basic Restaurant Management Certificate Program” was conducted in collaboration with Netkent Mediterranean Research and Science University in the period of April to June 2021, covering a curriculum of 30 hours.
The “Restaurant Management and Culinary Culture Certificate Program” which commenced in January 2022 and concluded in May 2022, was designed as a comprehensive training program of approximately 80 hours with an expanded content. In addition to kitchen and culinary culture classes, this program consisted of video-based culinary training sessions and seminars where industry veterans shared their success stories.
The Restaurant Management and Culinary Culture Certificate Program, conducted online, aimed to equip individuals working or aspiring to work as managers in the food and beverage sector, or considering investing in cafes or restaurants, with professional skills and fundamental gastronomy knowledge. The curriculum included courses such as Location Selection and Concept, Feasibility, Human Resources, Menu Creation, Communication and Marketing, Overview of World Gastronomy, Gastronomy Map of Anatolia, Environmentally Friendly Approaches from Soil to Plate, and Basic Kitchen Techniques. The entire curriculum content and planning of the program, which could be considered as a fine example of civil society-university collaboration, belong to the association, and it stands ready to serve the gastronomy world in future collaborations.
